Jaguar Type 00 Concept: A Polarizing Direction for Luxury EVs

Type 00 Concept: Jag Moves Passionfully into the Future

Jaguar showed off the Type 00 concept, a sleek two-door coupe first seen at Miami Art Week, which gives us a preview of the luxury automaker’s first electric grand tourer arriving in 2026. The Type 00 is a herald of a monumental shaping of the Jaguar of old, with its combination of avant garde bodywork and heritage-inspired flourishes.

Design Language: “Exuberant Modernism”

Type 00 concept has an unapologetic, monolithic design. Based on the proportions of Jaguar classics like the E-Type, it favors sharp edges and minimalist sensibilities over curvilinear elegance. Its long hood, fastback roofline and distinctive “strikethrough” motif established a new design language.

It gets an angular LED headlamp setup at the front in quad design, followed by a horizontally styled grille. There was no window at the rear, but instead a big panel with flashlights hidden away. Its futuristic appeal is further amplified by the butterfly doors and 23-inch alloy wheels.

Jaguar’s understated badging includes brass plaques marked with the leaping cat logo, hiding rear-facing cameras that serve as replacements for conventional side mirrors. The Type 00 paints on two separate colorways: Miami Pink and London Blue, representing Jaguar’s balance of worldwide futurism and legacy.

In the Cabin: A Work of Architecture and Craft

The Type 00’s interior has an architectural feel, with raw brass, travertine stone and fabrics brought together. A 10.5-foot brass spine part the cabin, traveling through this dashboard and seating area, with brass accents throughout. The stone plinth that supports the hovering seats emphasizes the luxury that is grounded in natural materials.

Jaguar showcased a novel feature called “totems,” made from brass, travertine, or alabaster. Nestled in the center console, these totems adjust ambient lighting, screen graphics and soundscapes; they also release bespoke scents, transforming the cabin into a personal suite.

(Those hidden screens emerge from the dashboard as needed but fold away for a “digital detox,” leaving a slim line of display along the bottom of the windshield for essential driving information.) The seats are made from a wool blend, and the car has a sound bar, all of which add to the tactile luxury of the vehicle.

A Total Reset for Jaguar

The Jaguar Type 00 concept isn’t just a design study, but a bona-fide reboot of Jaguar as an electric-first luxury brand. Introducing the new Jaguar Electrical Architecture (JEA), designed to deliver efficiency and creativity. Technical specifications are cloaked, but Jaguar is aiming for a 430-mile range with DC fast-charging capabilities.

Jaguar, too, is hitching its wagon to exclusivity in the form of high-end brand stores in international luxury capitals, starting with Paris. This is part of Jaguar’s strategic pivot from mass-market production to tailor-made, high-end luxury, much — but not all — like Maserati.Looking Ahead.

The Type 00 concept is a bold statement, the outer expression of Jaguar’s new “Copy Nothing” philosophy. Using modernist design and sustainable luxury in their formula, the automaker hopes to harness the innovation and desirability that once were the bedrock of the brand.

Its polarizing design may raise eyebrows, but Jaguar’s bold vision will serve the brand well in the rapidly growing luxury EV market. The Type 00, featuring retro future aesthetics and fertile heritage, ushers in an awesome new era for Jaguar’s storied past.
